G Mens Saloon

G Mens Saloon is a small place we run on Venkatesa Bathan Street in the Vepery area. It’s right in Perumalpet, which is usually a very busy part of Chennai. Our shop is just one room with three chairs for customers. We’ve been here for a good number of years now. Most of the men who come here live in the nearby streets and have been our regulars for a long time. We do simple hair cutting and shaving. Some guys like to get a head massage after a long day of work, so we do that too. The mirrors are a bit old and have some spots on the edges, but they work fine for what we need. It’s mostly just me and my brother working here most days. We don’t have a big fancy sign, just the name on the front glass. During the rainy season, the street outside gets a bit muddy, so we have to mop the floor quite often. We don't have any background music, usually just the sound of the fan or the traffic from the street outside. It’s a very plain and honest shop. We don't do any of those expensive treatments you see in the city. Just good old-fashioned haircuts. We open early in the morning and stay until the evening.
