Dakshna Beauty Parlour

Dakshna Beauty Parlour is on the first floor of Singapore Plaza. That’s at No 11/1 on M C Road. It’s a busy part of Washermanpet, and we are quite close to the Arumuganadar High School. You can hear the school bell ringing and the kids shouting during their breaks. Being on the first floor means people have to walk up the stairs to find us. It’s not a huge place, but it’s enough for the chairs and the equipment we need. M C Road is always packed with traffic and shoppers, so the view from our window is quite lively. We’ve seen the neighborhood change a bit over the years, but the plaza stays the same. Inside, the air smells like shampoo and hair spray. We spend a lot of time organizing our combs and checking our towels. It’s just a few of us working here. We aren't trying to be the most modern place in Chennai, just a reliable one. When someone walks in, we just ask them what they need and get started. It might be a simple haircut or something else, but we take our time with it. The afternoon sun hits the plaza pretty hard, so we keep the curtains drawn a bit. We just like doing our work and going home at the end of the shift. It’s a steady job in a busy part of town. Sometimes it gets crowded in the evenings when everyone finishes their work.
