About Amutham Traders – Housewares & Supplies in Chennai
We’ve been operating out of this building in Seven Wells for a long time now. The address changed from Old No 80 to New No 46, but we are still in the same spot near St. Xavier. It’s a tight street and the traffic can be a real headache when the delivery trucks are trying to pull in. We handle all sorts of goods and the warehouse space gets pretty crowded with boxes stacked almost to the ceiling. You have to be careful walking through the aisles so you don't trip on something. The neighborhood is always buzzing with people and shops, so there is never a quiet moment during the day. We spend a lot of our time on the phone talking to suppliers or checking the inventory lists to see what’s running low. It’s a bit messy sometimes, especially when a big shipment arrives and we have to unpack everything on the floor. My brother and a couple of local guys help with the heavy lifting and the loading. We don’t have a big sign out front, just the door where everyone knows to come in. The walls are a bit scuffed from moving crates around, but that’s just how it is in a trading business. Seven Wells is a busy part of the city and we’ve gotten used to the noise and the constant movement of people through the morning and evening. We usually shut the doors around seven and head home to get some rest.
