About Singh Daljinder Architect – Architect, Interior & Structural Design in Chandigarh
Our work happens at House No.1858 in Phase-7, Mohali. Since it’s a house, it doesn’t feel like a cold office at all. We have converted one of the larger rooms into a studio where we keep all our drawing boards and computers. Phase-7 is a pretty busy area of Mohali so there is always traffic and people walking by outside. We’ve lived and worked in this house for quite a while, so the neighbors all know us. It’s a simple setup where we handle everything from initial sketches to the final details. We don't have a team of secretaries or anything, if the phone rings, one of us just picks it up. Usually, the table is covered in rolls of blueprints and half-empty cups of tea. We try to keep things moving but sometimes we get stuck on a difficult design for a few days. The room has big windows that let in a lot of light, which is good for drawing. We don't use any fancy management software, just a notebook where we write down what needs to be done each day. It’s a very direct way of working. People usually just drop by if they need something, and we sit down right there at the main table to talk it over. We just keep plugging away at the work and try to keep the house running at the same time.
