Chatterjee Sharmila Architect

I run my architectural practice from Hl-271 in Phase-2. It’s a quiet enough street, which is good when I need to concentrate on a complicated layout or a difficult set of stairs. Chatterjee Sharmila Architect is just me and a couple of helpers when things get busy. I’ve been doing this for many years, so I’ve seen a lot of different building styles come into fashion and then go away again. My office is basically a room full of books, rolls of paper, and my computer. It’s not a corporate showroom with bright lights. Most people who come here are looking for someone to help them figure out their home or a small commercial space in the area. I spend a lot of my time visiting sites in Phase-2 and the surrounding areas to see how construction is going. It’s important to see the dirt and the bricks, not just the drawings on the screen. Things don’t always go according to plan on a building site, so I spend a fair bit of time solving problems on the fly. I don’t believe in making things more complicated than they need to be. If a simple beam works for the span, then we use a simple beam. It’s a practical way of looking at things. My neighbors know me as the one always carrying a measuring tape or a roll of drawings. I’m not trying to win awards; I just want to make sure the walls are straight and the roof doesn't leak. It’s steady work and I enjoy the daily process.
