About Harpreet Singh Architect – Architect, Interior & Structural Design in Chandigarh
I run my architecture practice from House Number G-1, right inside the Punjab University Campus in Sector-14. It is a bit of an unusual place to have an office, but I’ve been here for a long time and I really like the atmosphere. The campus is full of trees and it stays much quieter than the rest of the city. My office is basically a converted part of the house where I keep my drawing boards, my computer, and all my reference books. It is a very personal space. I don't have a big team or a corporate structure. Most of the time, it is just me working on designs and occasionally meeting with clients who drop by. We usually just sit and talk through their ideas without any of the formality you would find in a downtown firm. There are often rolls of paper and sketches lying around, and my desk is always a bit of a mess. I think that is just how a real architect’s workspace should be. I enjoy being in Sector-14 because it feels like a community. People know where to find me, even if there isn't a big sign out front. I don't follow a strict nine-to-five schedule. If a project needs work, I’m here doing it. It’s a quiet, steady way to live and work. I just focus on the plans and try to make sure everything is drawn up correctly for the people who trust me with their projects.
