Vedike Theatre is right on the Banashankari 3rd Stage Ring Road, at number 190. It’s an easy place to spot if you’re driving along the ring road. We have been putting on plays and events here for some time now. The building isn't brand new, and it has its quirks, like the occasional squeaky seat or a door that sticks in the heat. But it’s a place where things happen. We spend a lot of time setting up the stage and checking the lights before a show starts. The ticket counter is usually a busy spot an hour before the curtains go up. We see all kinds of people coming through the doors. Some are families from the neighborhood and others come from across the city. We don't have a big corporate office; we mostly just work out of the back rooms. It gets a bit chaotic when a big production is in town, with actors and sets everywhere. We just try to keep things organized. Cleaning up after a show takes a while, especially finding all the popcorn bits under the seats. It’s a lot of work to run a theatre, but we like being part of the local culture. It’s not about being the biggest venue. It’s just about having a space where people can see a show and forget about the traffic on the Ring Road for a couple of hours. It is what it is. Running this place keeps us on our toes.
