Natraj Theatre

Natraj Theatre has been around Seshadripuram for a long time. You can find us at number 186 on Venkataranga Iyengar Road. The building itself is on the older side, so it has plenty of quirks. The floorboards might creak under your feet in certain spots and the lobby can get a bit stuffy when the sun hits the front glass in the afternoon. We like to keep things simple. We sell the tickets at the little window in front and then people head inside to watch whatever is playing. We aren't like those big modern malls with dozens of screens. We just have our one big hall and that is it. When a popular movie opens, the queue for tickets sometimes goes all the way down the sidewalk. We have to go out and make sure people aren't blocking the road. The projector room upstairs is small and gets really warm, but the guys working up there know exactly how to handle the machines. We still hang up those large printed posters that take two people to get straight. It involves a lot of manual labor every day. We sweep the aisles between every single show because people tend to leave their trash behind in the dark. Our snack counter is pretty basic, mostly just popcorn and some cold sodas. People come back here because it feels like the same place they visited when they were much younger. We just keep the film running.
