Usman Flowers

We set up Usman Flowers on the Main Road in BTM Layout. It’s a good spot because so many people pass by on their way to work or the shops. The shop itself is nothing to look at from the outside, just a plain front with lots of plastic buckets lined up. I spend my day sorting through bundles of different colors and trimming the ends. BTM Layout is always changing, with new buildings going up, but our little flower shop stays the same. I don't have a big staff, it’s mostly just me doing the work. I have to keep the water clean so the flowers don't rot. It’s a constant job of dumping out heavy buckets and refilling them at the tap. My clothes usually have a few water spots on them by lunchtime. People often stop their bikes right out front to grab a quick bunch of jasmine or some loose petals. I try to keep things organized, but it’s hard when you have flowers everywhere. The smell is the best part of the job, even on the days when I’m feeling tired. I don't have any brochures or a website. If you want to see what we have, you just have to come by the Main Road. It’s practical work and it keeps me on my feet. I like being part of the neighborhood and seeing the regular faces every week.
