Tilia Florist

Tilia Florist has been operating out of this spot near the Ooty Chocolate place in the Moongphali Mandi for a good while now. Being in Miller Ganj, right in the heart of Koramangala, means we see a lot of different people every day. The morning starts early here, usually around five when the flower trucks arrive. It is often still dark out and the air smells like wet pavement and earth. We spend the first few hours just cutting stems and making sure everything is sitting in clean water. The floor stays pretty damp throughout the morning because of all the buckets being moved around. Our shop is not one of those fancy places with glass displays. It is a practical space with wooden benches and plenty of metal pails filled with roses, lilies, and whatever else is in season. Sometimes the smell of chocolate from the nearby shop drifts over and mixes with the scent of the jasmine. It is a busy neighborhood and the traffic on the main road can get quite loud by noon. We mostly just keep our heads down and work on the orders. Customers usually walk in while they are out doing their other shopping at the mandi. They want something simple for their homes or a small bunch for a friend. We handle everything by hand using old shears that have been sharpened too many times to count. It is a messy job but we enjoy the quiet routine.
