Sree Kanthalakshmi Flowers Decorators is tucked away at 9 Shivane Industrial Estate in Basavanagudi. Being in an industrial estate means things are a bit different than a high street shop. We have a good amount of space here to work on the larger decorations that people ask for. Basavanagudi is a place with a lot of history, and we feel lucky to be working in this part of town. Most days are spent moving crates of flowers around and figuring out how to set up backdrops or mandaps. It's a lot of physical labor, really. We aren't trying to be the most modern place out there. We just use the techniques we learned years ago. My hands are usually stained from the stems, and there is always a mess of leaves on the ground that needs sweeping at the end of the shift. Neighbors from the other units in Shivane Industrial Estate often drop by for a quick chat while we work. We don't do much advertising because the work usually speaks for itself when people see it at a function. It's just a bunch of us working hard to get the orders out on time. If you come by the estate, you’ll see our sign at number 9. We try to keep things straightforward and practical. No big promises, just flowers and hard work every single day. That's how we've always done it here.
