N S Flower Merchants is right in the middle of the action at 336/B in the New Complex of SKR Market on Avenue Road. If you know this area, you know how crowded and busy it gets. It is one of the oldest parts of the city. We are surrounded by other traders and merchants, so there is always a lot of shouting and moving around. We deal with a lot of flowers every single day. It’s a high-energy place. We start our work very early, often before the sun is even up, because that is when the big loads arrive. The shop is more of a workstation than a fancy store. We have crates and bags of flowers piled up, and we are constantly sorting through them. It is not the kind of place where you come to browse quietly; it is fast-paced and functional. The floor is usually wet, and there are petals everywhere, which is just how a market shop works. We have been here for years, and we know most of the other merchants around us. It’s a tough environment but we like the buzz of the market. People come to us for all sorts of reasons, usually in large quantities. We don't worry about being polished or looking corporate. We just focus on getting the flowers out to the people who need them. It is hard work, but it keeps us busy and we are part of the market life.
