Evergreen Florists

Our shop, Evergreen Florists, is located at 19/2 Kempa Gowda Road, right by Maheshwari Nandal. We start our day very early, usually before the sun is even up, when the fresh loads of flowers arrive. The air in the shop is always cool and damp, and it smells like a mix of wet earth and lilies. We spend hours trimming stems, thorns, and leaves so the flowers stay fresh in their buckets. Our hands are usually stained green or have a few small nicks from the rose bushes. It’s a small space on KG Road, and we have buckets of water everywhere, so you have to watch your step. We don’t use a lot of fancy machines; it’s mostly just us with our scissors and some string or ribbon. People come in looking for something for a wedding or sometimes for a sadder occasion, and we just put together what looks good that day. The sidewalk outside gets covered in discarded petals and leaves by the afternoon. We’ve been at this spot for a long time, and we’ve seen the traffic on Kempa Gowda Road get heavier every year. It’s a simple business, really. We just take what grows in the ground and arrange it for the people who stop by our shop at 19/2. There’s no big secret to it, just keeping the water clean and the flowers cool so they last a bit longer.
