Devika Florist

Our shop, Devika Florist, is right in the middle of the chaos at 86 National Market. It’s on the 5th Main Road in Gandhi Nagar. If you know that area, you know how crowded it gets with all the shoppers and the traders moving goods back and forth. It’s a noisy place to work, but we’ve gotten used to the shouting and the horns. The shop is quite narrow, so we have to stack the crates high. Most days, I’m climbing over things just to get to the back where the sink is. We get our stock from the city markets very early, and the smell of fresh marigolds usually fills the 5th Main Road before the other shops even open their shutters. We don't have fancy displays. We just put the flowers in whatever containers we have and hope the street dust doesn't settle on them too much. It’s a lot of sweeping and dusting, to be honest. The National Market area has its own rhythm, and we just follow it. Some people come in looking for something specific, while others are just passing through Gandhi Nagar and stop because they saw a bit of color. It’s a simple business. We deal with the heat, the crowds, and the flowers every single day. There isn’t much more to it than that. We just stay busy and keep things moving.
