Bismilla Flower Stall

You can find us at 274 near the Periyar Nagar Circle in Cooke Town. It’s a busy corner. Cars are always honking and people are trying to get through the circle. Our stall is right there in the middle of it. We’ve been here for quite some years now. It started as a small family thing and we just kept going. The stall isn’t very big, so we have to be careful how we stack the crates. Every morning we get the fresh stock in. It’s a lot of heavy lifting and moving buckets around. The smell of the jasmine is quite strong in the morning before the traffic smoke takes over. We have regular customers who stop their scooters right on the road to grab a small bunch of roses or some loose petals. Sometimes the police tell them to move along, so we have to be quick. We don’t do anything fancy here. No ribbons or expensive boxes. We just wrap things in old newspapers or plastic bags. It’s a simple way of doing things. When it rains, we have to pull down the plastic sheets to keep the flowers dry. It gets a bit cramped inside then. We stay open until the street lights come on and things quiet down a bit. It’s just a local stall trying to get by every day. We don't have many employees, just a couple of us working the shifts.
