Hosakote Amrith Sericulture Farmers is where we all gather to handle the silk business. We are located at Chandrappa’s place over in Hedakanahalli. It is a small village and the work we do involves a lot of patience with the silkworms. Growing the mulberry is a big part of what happens here because without the right food the worms won't produce much. Chandrappa has been around here for a long time and he knows most of the families involved in the farming. We don't have a formal lobby or anything, it is more like a working farm where people stop by to talk about their crops. The Hosakote region has a lot of people doing this kind of work, so we fit right in with the local landscape. Sometimes the seasons are tough and we have to work extra hard to keep the worms healthy. We spend our days checking the nets and making sure everything is clean. It’s a messy job sometimes and the smell of the leaves is everywhere. We aren't doing anything revolutionary, just following the steps that have worked for years.
