Devanahalli Sericulture Farmers Producer

Our group is based in Devanahalli Taluk, specifically in the Bettakote area. Srinivas is the one who handles the coordination from his place at number 111. Devanahalli is changing a lot with all the new buildings and the airport nearby, but in our corner of Bettakote, we are still focused on the sericulture work. It is a lot of daily chores like feeding the worms and keeping the trays in good order. We have a lot of local farmers who come together under this name to try and make things work better for everyone. It isn't a big company with suits and meetings; it’s mostly just us sitting around talking about the price of cocoons and the health of the mulberry trees. The weather in this part of the district is usually okay for silk, though it can get dry. Srinivas’s house is where we keep the records and where people come to drop off their stuff or ask for help. We use simple tools and traditional methods because that’s what we have available. It’s hard work and it doesn't leave much time for anything else. We don't have a website or a marketing team, we just have the people who live in Bettakote and work the land. The address at 111 is easy to find once you get into the village. We just take things one day at a time here.
