M. JIJU SILK MILLS

M. JIJU SILK MILLS is situated at 71 Jumma Masjid Road, within Ashira Avenue. This is a very lively part of the area, and Jumma Masjid Road is usually packed with shoppers and vendors throughout the day. Ashira Avenue is where we have our mill set up. Working with silk is a specific kind of job that requires a bit more care than other textiles. We spend our hours tending to the machinery and making sure the silk threads are handled properly. The air inside the mill often has that distinct smell of raw silk and machine oil. It is a busy place, and there is rarely a moment of complete silence when the looms are running. We are right in the heart of the community, so we see a lot of the local life passing by our doors every day. Sometimes it is hard to find parking on Jumma Masjid Road, which can be a bit of a headache for our visitors. The building we are in is practical and has enough light for us to see the fine details of the work. We aren't trying to be the biggest or the flashiest mill around. We just want to keep the machines running and the silk moving. Our staff knows the routine well, and we mostly just get on with it. It’s a lot of hard work and long hours, but it’s what we do here at Ashira Avenue.
