Kambi Silks

Kambi Silks is over at 76 Vishal Cplx on Jumma Masjid Rd. It’s a busy street, always lots of people moving around and the smell of food from the nearby stalls. Our shop is inside the complex, so it’s a bit quieter once you step inside. We have a lot of silk fabrics draped over racks. They are colorful and take up most of the space. We have got a couple of stools for people to sit on while they look at the different patterns. The floor is tiled and we try to sweep it every morning, but the threads always find a way to get back into the corners. My dad started this place years ago and he still comes in some afternoons to check on things. We don't have any fancy displays with lights. We just let the silk speak for itself. Sometimes the electricity goes out for an hour or so, and we just open the door wide to let the sunlight in from the hallway. It’s a bit of a tight squeeze when we get a group of people in at once. We usually have some water or tea for anyone who stays a while. It’s just how we do things here on Jumma Masjid Rd. Nothing too complicated. We just focus on the stock we have and helping people find the right color for their clothes. It's good work.
