Our place is at 12/1 Bellary Road, right in Hebbal. If you know that road, you know the traffic is a nightmare most of the time. We hear the honking from the flyover all day long. The mill has been around for a bit, and it is mostly about the silk. Silk is tricky stuff to work with, very delicate. We have to be careful how we store it so it does not get ruined. The building is older, and the roof leaks a little when it rains really hard, so we have to move the stock around. It is not a huge operation. We have a few looms and some guys who have been with us for years. We are not trying to be the biggest mill in Bangalore. We just want to keep the machines running and the orders moving out. Sometimes I sit on the steps out front just to get some fresh air. The tea stall across the road makes the best ginger tea, and that keeps us going in the afternoons. We do not have a fancy catalog or a shiny office. The walls are covered in old calendars and notes written in pencil. It is a quiet life for the most part, despite the road noise. We just do the work and hope the customers are happy enough to come back next season. It is just honest work with some good people around.
