Our office is in Village Medhi Sulempur, near the Hanswar post office in Ambedkar Nagar. It’s a bit of a trek if you aren't from around here, but for us, it’s right where we need to be. We focus on helping the farmers in this part of Baskhari. It’s a community-led thing, mostly just people from the local area who wanted to pool their resources. We don't have any fancy mission statements or glossy brochures. We just have a small room with some ledgers and a lot of talk about the crops. Sometimes the electricity goes out and we just sit in the shade and wait for it to come back. That’s just how it is in the village. We handle a lot of the collective buying for things like fertilizer or seeds. It saves everyone a bit of money and hassle. Most of the people involved have been farming their whole lives. We aren't experts in business, but we know how to grow things. We’re learning the company side of things as we go along. It can be confusing with all the rules, but we have each other to lean on. If you come by, you’ll probably see someone loading bags or checking the quality of the harvest. It’s honest work and we don’t try to make it sound like more than it is. We keep it real and simple for everyone involved. That is the only way we know.
