The Food Village

It’s just a small spot here at shop number five in the Gndu Complex. We’ve been around Chheharta for a bit now, right on the busy City Road. If you know where the HDFC Bank is, then you've probably seen our sign or walked past us a dozen times. It gets pretty loud outside with all the traffic coming through Amritsar, especially in the afternoons when everyone is out and about. We mostly just keep our heads down and get the cooking done. The kitchen is small but it works for what we do. Sometimes the students from the university nearby wander in when they're tired of their canteen stuff. It’s not a fancy place by any means. We’ve got some stools and the walls could maybe use a fresh coat of paint if we ever got the time. Most of the day is just spent prepping things and making sure the stove is running right. It’s a lot of work being in this part of town because it never really stays quiet. Even in the evenings when the bank closes, there are still people walking around the complex. We just try to keep things simple and get the orders out as they come in. It’s a family-run kind of thing, so there isn’t any big management or anything like that. Just us working the counter and the stove every single day.
