Aunty Kitchen

We are over at 91 Kabir Park Market in Amritsar, right across from GNDU. It’s a busy spot because of the university students. Most of the time, people just call us Aunty’s. We started this because we liked cooking and there were always hungry kids looking for something that tastes like home. It’s not a big fancy place, just a kitchen where we make what we know. The market stays pretty active throughout the day, so there is always something going on outside our door. Sometimes the spice smell gets a bit strong when we are frying things up for lunch. We try to keep things simple and honest. You won’t find any fancy decorations or soft music here. It’s mostly just the sound of pans and people talking. We’ve been at this for a while now. The students come and go as they graduate, but the kitchen stays the same. We know most of our regulars by their usual orders. If you are walking around Kabir Park, you will see us. We are usually busy during the afternoon rush. It gets a bit hot in the kitchen during summers, but we manage. We just do our work and hope people leave with a full stomach. It's a small team here, just a few of us making sure the food gets out on time. We don't really do much advertising, people just find us by walking past or hearing about us from a friend.
