Mansuri Halwa House

You can find us near Teen Darwaja in Ahmedabad, right by Bhatiar Gali. This part of the city is always crowded and full of energy. Mansuri Halwa House is a small shop, and it gets quite hot inside because of the big vats of sugar and milk we have going. We’ve been at this Pankornaka Road spot for a long time. The walls are a bit stained from the steam, and the floor is always a little sticky, but that’s part of making halwa. We don’t have much room for people to sit, so most folks just stand around or take their sweets to go. We start our day very early, long before the sun is up, to get the batches ready for the morning crowd. It’s a lot of stirring and heavy lifting. We don’t use machines for everything; a lot of it is still done by hand because that’s how we learned to do it. Khas Bazar is a noisy place, and we are right in the middle of it. We see all kinds of people every day, from tourists to locals who have been buying from us for decades. We don’t have a fancy website or a marketing team. It’s just us, some big pans, and a lot of sugar. If you walk by, the smell will usually tell you exactly where we are. We just keep doing what we know, day after day.
