THE SPICED TREE

Agra is a busy place, especially around Sadar Bazaar. We are tucked into the K.N. ORCHID building on Gopi Chand Shivhare Road. It’s right near those BALUNI CLASSES in Sadar Bazaar, so we see a lot of students walking past every single day with their backpacks and books. THE SPICED TREE is just our little spot in this corner of the city, Agra - 282001. We spend a lot of time just keeping the place tidy because the dust from the road always finds its way inside. It's not a huge place, but it's ours. We usually open up in the morning when the shops nearby are still pulling up their shutters. Some days are quieter than others, especially when the heat in Agra gets really bad in the afternoon. We have some chairs that have been here since we opened, and the paint on the door frame is starting to chip a little bit, but we don't mind much. It gives the place a bit of character. Most of the people who come in are locals or folks working in the other shops around Sadar Bazaar. We don't do much advertising; people just sort of find us or hear about us from their neighbors. It’s a simple life running a business here. We just make sure we are ready when the doors open. Every evening when the street lights come on, the whole area feels different, and we start thinking about closing up for the night and doing it all again tomorrow.
