The Charcoal Chimney

The Charcoal Chimney is located at 1076/2 on Fatehabad Road in Agra. We are right opposite the ITC Mughal Fatehabad Road, which is a big landmark around here. Since we are in 282001, we get a lot of tourists who are in town to see the sights. The road outside is always dusty and full of rickshaws and visitors. Inside the restaurant, it smells like smoke and grilled food because of the tandoors. The kitchen gets very hot, especially in the summer months when the Agra heat is no joke. We have a lot of heavy iron pans and the staff is always moving fast to get orders out. The tables are simple and the chairs are meant for sitting and eating, not for lounging around for hours. We don't have any fancy decorations on the walls, just a few pictures here and there. Most of our day is spent prepping vegetables or cleaning the floors after the lunch rush. It is hard work and our hands usually smell like onions or spices by the time we go home. We see a lot of people from all over the world. Some of them speak English well and others just point at the menu. We make it work either way. When the sun goes down, the street lights come on and we get another rush of people looking for dinner before they head back to their hotels for the night.
