Om Bhojnalaya

We have been running Om Bhojnalaya on Taj Road for quite some time now. Being in Sadar Bazaar means there is never a quiet moment. If you walk past Saudagar Lane or the Pawan Hotel, you will find us right there in the thick of things. It gets very busy in the afternoons when the sun is high and everyone is looking for a place to sit down for a bit. The shop is simple and we don’t spend much time on fancy decorations because the work keeps us moving from morning until late at night. We open up early to get everything ready for the day. You can hear the noise of the rickshaws and people shouting outside on Taj Road constantly. It is just the way this part of Agra is. Sometimes the fans don't move the air enough when it is really hot, but we just keep going. We know most of the people who work in the nearby shops in Sadar Bazaar. They come in and sit in their usual spots. We don't have a big staff, just a few of us making sure things are done. It is a practical life here. We focus on getting the food onto the plates and making sure the water glasses stay full. It’s not a polished place, just a regular bhojnalaya where the floors get swept many times a day because of the dust from the street.
