New Punjabi Dhaba

New Punjabi Dhaba is located right on M G Rd in Agra, very close to Bhagwan Cinema. Actually, we are directly opposite Bhagwan Talkies, so it’s easy to find us if you’re heading for a movie. The area is always crowded with people and rickshaws. Being near a cinema means we get a big rush of people whenever a show ends. We have to be ready with the food because everyone is usually hungry then. The dhaba is a simple setup. We have the big tandoor going and the heat from it fills up the front area. It’s a bit dusty because of the road, but we try to keep the tables as clean as we can. Agra can get really hot in the summer, 282005 is no joke when the sun is out. We don't have fancy air conditioning, just the big pedestal fans that make a lot of noise. People sit on the benches and eat their food quickly. It’s a loud place with the traffic and the music from the shops nearby. We’ve been at this for a while now. My brothers and I handle most of the work ourselves. We don't bother with fancy menus or anything. We just tell people what we have for the day. It’s a basic life, just cooking and serving and watching the crowds go by. We open the shutters early and close them late. It’s a lot of hours standing on our feet but it keeps us busy and out of trouble.
