Kesar Kitchen

We are set up in the Astha City Centre, right on Yamuna Kinara Road. It’s a busy spot in Agra, especially with the CNG petrol pump right next to us. There is a constant stream of cars and autos pulling in and out all day long. The noise of the traffic is something we’ve just learned to live with. Inside the kitchen, we keep things simple. We don't have a massive menu with hundreds of items; we just stick to what we know how to make. Most of our customers are people who are already at the city centre for other things or drivers stopping for a bite while they wait for their tanks to fill up. The view of the river road is always interesting, though it can get very dusty with all the construction and vehicles. We spend a lot of time wiping down the counters and cleaning the floors because of all the dirt that blows in from the street. It’s a small team here. We do the cooking, the cleaning, and the serving ourselves. We don't have a manager in a suit; we just wear our aprons and get to work. When the sun goes down, the lights from the petrol pump and the mall make the whole area look different. We stay open until the late evening, then we pack everything up and get ready for the next day. It’s just a normal kitchen doing normal work for hungry people.
