Barista

Hno E6 in Om Vihar is where you'll find this Barista. It is part of Phase 5 in Uttam Nagar, which is a very busy slice of New Delhi. The streets are narrow and there is always something going on outside our door. This isn't one of those massive cafes with lounge seating for hundreds. It’s a smaller, more local setup. We spend our shifts making coffee and trying to keep the dust from the street off the counters. The grinders make a lot of noise, which blends in with the traffic sounds from outside. Most of our customers are people from the neighborhood or folks passing through on their way to the metro. We don't have a corporate script we follow. We just say hello and get the drinks ready. Sometimes the milk delivery is late because of the Delhi traffic, and we have to scramble a bit to keep things moving. It’s a lot of standing on our feet and keeping the machines clean. The back room is quite small, so we store the beans and supplies as neatly as we can. We’ve got a couple of regular customers who have been coming here since we opened this branch. It’s a simple life. We aren't trying to change the world, just serving coffee in a busy part of the city. It gets hot in the afternoons, so we are thankful for the fans and the small air conditioning unit.
