Shree Shiv Flour Mill

Working behind Khanderao Market means things are always moving at Shree Shiv Flour Mill. We are located on Sia Baug Main Rd in the Shiyabagh area. It’s a part of town that has been around for ages, and we feel like a part of that history. The shop is old and the walls could probably use a new coat of paint, but the machines work just fine. That’s the important part. We get a lot of foot traffic from people finished with their vegetable shopping at the market. They drop off their grain and then come back for it later. It’s a lot of lifting and carrying, which keeps us tired but fit. The sound of the grinder is the soundtrack to our lives. Sometimes it’s so loud we have to use hand signals to talk to each other. We don’t use any high-tech gadgets here. It’s just the same traditional way of grinding that’s been used for years. Every now and then, a tourist wanders in by mistake because they got lost near the market, and we just point them back to the main road. Most of our customers are locals who have been coming here since they were kids. We know their names and how they like their flour ground. It’s a simple connection but it feels real. We just keep doing our bit, day in and day out, in this busy little street near the heart of the city.
