Kailash Flour Mill

If you walk down Tower Main Rd near the Hanuman Temple, you’ll find Kailash Flour Mill. We are tucked into the Baranpura Chokhandi area of Wadi. It’s a lively neighborhood with a lot of energy. Our shop is simple. We have the grinding stones and the weighing scale, and not much else. There isn't room for much else anyway. The walls are stained with the marks of many years of work. We don’t spend much on decorations because the flour dust just covers everything anyway. We see a lot of people coming from the temple who stop in to get their wheat processed. It’s a steady stream of folks from morning to night. I’ve spent most of my life here, and I know the sound of the machines better than I know my own voice sometimes. We don't have a fancy business plan. We just listen to what the customers want and try to do a decent job. If the flour isn't fine enough, we fix it. It’s pretty straightforward. Some days are slower than others, especially when it rains hard and the streets in Wadi get a bit flooded. But usually, we are busy from start to finish. It’s a lot of work on the hands, keeping everything clean and running, but it feels good to be useful to the neighborhood. We’re just a regular part of the street here and we like it that way.
