Gupta Flour Mill sits right on Old Chhani Rd. If you find Bangotri Chambers, we are just right beside it in the Tp 13 area. Chhani Jakatnaka is a place where everyone seems to be in a hurry, but we try to keep a steady pace here. The shop isn’t very large, so we have to stack the bags high to make room for people to stand. Grinding flour is what we’ve always done. It’s repetitive work, but there’s a rhythm to it that I like. You pour the grain in at the top, and the fresh flour comes out the bottom. It’s warm when it first comes out. We spend a lot of time cleaning the equipment because the dust gets into every corner. My clothes are always white by lunch time. We don’t really do any advertising. People just see the sign when they are driving by or they hear about us from a neighbor. It’s a practical business for a practical neighborhood. Sometimes the weather makes the grain a bit damp, and we have to be extra careful then. We just take things as they come. There’s no big secret to what we do. We just show up every morning, open the doors, and start the motors. It’s honest work and it pays the bills. We like being part of this little corner of the city where things feel familiar and nobody expects anything too fancy from a local mill.
