Milan General Store

Our shop is over at 4 Radha Krushna Shopping Centre, right across from Sahyog Society in Sector 47 C. Being in Gorwa means it gets pretty busy during the evening when everyone is coming back from work. The shopping center itself is okay, though the parking out front can be a real mess sometimes. We spend a lot of time just moving bags around and making sure the jars are front-facing on the shelves. It’s mostly just me and one helper running the place. We sell everything from soap to snacks and some stationery items that the school kids always ask for. The Sahyog Society people are our main regulars, and we know most of their names. Some of them have been coming here since we first opened the doors. It’s not a large place so we have to use every inch of space, even stacking things near the ceiling. Sometimes I think we need a bigger spot, but then I think about the move and it seems like too much trouble. The light in the back of the store is a bit dim because the bulb flickers, but we haven't gotten around to fixing it yet. We just keep going, stocking what people ask for and trying to keep the dust off the bottles. It's a typical local shop life with no breaks except for a quick lunch in the back room. We hope the stock lasts until the next truck comes on Friday morning.
