Dipesh Vasan Bhandar

Dipesh Vasan Bhandar is over at 26 Aastha Avenue. We are right near the Anandvan Complex in the Bhangarwadi area of Subhanpura. It is a busy little corner of the world. We deal with all sorts of household things. Vasan means utensils in our language, so we have plenty of pots, pans, and stainless steel items stacked up. The shop is usually quite full, so there isn’t much room to walk around, but we know exactly where everything is kept. If you need something specific, you usually have to ask because it is probably hidden in a high stack. Subhanpura has grown a lot lately and we have been here to see all the changes. The morning commute brings a lot of people past our front door. We open early because that is when the local ladies like to shop before they start their daily housework. It gets a bit hot in the afternoons, but we have a small stool in the back where we sit and eat our lunch. Sometimes the delivery trucks have trouble parking on the narrow street near Aastha Avenue. We just help them out and carry the heavy boxes in ourselves. It is a lot of lifting and moving things around all day. My hands are usually a bit dirty from handling the metal. We don't have a fancy computer system, just a notepad and a pen for the daily accounts. We just want to provide what the neighborhood needs for their kitchens.
