Jay Ramapir Provision Store

Jay Ramapir Provision Store is right in the heart of the Main Bazar in Vadodara, not far from the main road. The bazar is always crowded and full of life, which makes running a store here quite an experience. There are shops all around us, but we have our own regulars who have been coming to see us for years. I deal mostly in daily provisions and household goods. Because it’s a bazar, everything is a bit cramped. I have boxes stacked up high to make use of the space, so you have to be careful where you walk. I spend my days mostly on my feet, grabbing items from the top shelves or helping someone carry a heavy bag to their scooter. It’s loud, it’s busy, and sometimes it’s a bit chaotic, but I wouldn't want to be anywhere else. I don't use a computer for the billing; I just do the math in my head or on a small calculator. It’s faster that way when there is a line of people waiting. We don't have fancy packaging or displays; we just put the goods out where people can see them. Often, I’m talking to three people at once while trying to remember where I put the new shipment of tea. It’s a real, hardworking shop for the people who shop in the Main Bazar every day.
