If you head down the Jhadoli Main Market Road, you will find us easily enough. It is the kind of street where everyone knows everyone else. Paliwal Iron & Steels is right in the middle of all that daily activity. There is always a lot of dust from the trucks passing through the market, and the sound of iron clanging is just part of the background music for us. We do not have a big reception area or anything like that. Usually, people just walk in off the street to ask about prices or see what we have in stock. It gets crowded on market days, and parking a bike can be a real headache. The shop is full of heavy stuff, so there is not much room for decoration. My desk is tucked in the corner behind some stacks of steel. We spend a lot of time on the phone or talking to the guys who bring the loads in. The weather in Jhadoli can be tough, either too dry or too muddy when the rains come. But the market stays busy anyway. We have seen many businesses come and go on this road, but we stay put at our spot. It is a simple life, really. Just buying and selling iron, making sure the measurements are right, and keeping the books in order. Sometimes we sit outside for tea when things get quiet in the afternoon. It is just how things are done here on the main road.
