Shree Balaji Steel Railings

Down on Bedla Road, near the Navediya Sadan, you’ll find our metal shop. We do a lot of work with steel, mostly making railings for stairs and balconies for houses around Fatehpura Paneri Upvon. The sound of grinding metal and the flash of welding torches is pretty much constant from morning until evening. It’s a hot job, especially when the sun is beating down on the workshop roof, but the work needs to get done. We have piles of steel rods and flat bars sitting out front, waiting to be cut to size. Most of the time, we’re out at people's houses taking measurements or drilling holes into concrete to set the posts. We don’t have a big sales team; it’s just us doing the welding and the fixing ourselves. Sometimes the cuts aren't perfectly smooth on the first try, so we spend a lot of time polishing them down until they feel right under your hand. It’s honest work that keeps the buildings around here looking a bit more finished. The shop isn't much to look at, just a practical space for heavy tools and big machines. We’ve been at this location for a good bit now and we know the local roads and neighborhoods well. We just take one job at a time and try to finish it before starting the next one. There is always a bit of iron dust on our clothes, but that is part of the trade.
