India Electroplating Works

We are located near Chetak Circle, not too far from the Ajanta Hotel. It’s a part of the city that stays pretty busy all day long. Our shop focuses on electroplating, which is a process of putting a metal coating on different items to stop them from rusting or to make them look a bit better. We get all kinds of metal parts brought in—nuts, bolts, brackets, and sometimes bigger pieces of machinery. It is a bit of a messy job with the tanks and the chemicals, so we spend most of our time in our work clothes. The smell of the shop is quite strong, but you don't really notice it after you've worked here for a few years. It isn’t a glamorous business at all, but it is necessary for a lot of the local mechanics and small workshops in this area. We have been at this same spot for a long time. Some days we have a mountain of small parts to plate, and other days it is much quieter and we spend time cleaning the equipment. We don't have a fancy waiting room for customers. You just walk in and talk to whoever is free. We try to be honest about how long the process will take because you can't really rush electroplating if you want it to last. We have seen a lot of change around the circle, but we just keep doing our work.
