Shri Sakshi Steel

Out at Plot No. 24 in Udhyog Nagar Tanavada, things are a bit spread out. Shri Sakshi Steel is located near Vivek Vihar, which is a landmark most people around here use to find us. It’s a dusty patch of land but it’s our patch of land. We have plenty of space for the steel to sit before it gets moved out. The sun hits this area pretty hard, so we spend a lot of time under the shaded parts of the yard. We aren't the type of people to wear suits or have meetings in boardrooms. Most of our discussions happen while leaning against a truck or sitting on a stack of beams. We have a small room that counts as an office, but it’s mostly just where the bills and the logbooks are kept. There’s a stray dog that hangs around the gate that we feed sometimes. It’s a simple life out here in Tanavada. We get the steel in, we process it, and we send it out. Sometimes the power goes out and we just sit around and wait for it to come back on, talking about the weather or the local news. We don't try to be anything we aren't. We are just a local steel yard doing what we know how to do, day after day. It is hard work, but we are used to the rhythm of the place and the smell of the dust.
