Vandana Iron Store

Vandana Iron Store is located at 14-15 Sunderwas, right near the old glass factory. You can usually tell you are close by the sound of metal clanging together. We deal with a lot of heavy stuff here, mostly iron rods and sheets that take a few people to move around. The yard is usually full of inventory, and it gets quite messy when it rains because the ground turns to mud. We have been in this spot for a long time, and the glass factory next door has always been our landmark. It’s a dusty environment, and our clothes usually end up with rust stains by the end of the shift. We don’t really have a front counter like a normal shop; it’s more of an open space where people come to tell us what they need for their building projects. We spend the mornings loading up trucks and the afternoons trying to organize what’s left. It’s hard work on the back, but we are used to it by now. The sun hits the metal in the afternoon and makes the whole place feel like an oven sometimes. We just keep a few fans going and drink a lot of water. It isn't a place for someone who minds getting their hands dirty. We just keep working through the piles of iron we have in the yard.
