Kalapi Emporium

Our shop, Kalapi Emporium, is tucked away in Sector-6 Hiran Magri. Most people know the area because of the police station, and we are just behind it, right across from G Fashion Corner. It is a quiet enough spot compared to the main market, but we stay busy with the local folks. We have been in this location for a good while now, watching the buildings go up around us. My father used to say that this part of Udaipur would grow fast, and he was right. Every morning, I come in around ten, sweep the front, and get the lights on. Sometimes the electricity acts up, but that is just part of life here. We keep a lot of different things on the shelves, mostly stuff people need for their homes or for gifts. It gets a bit crowded inside when more than four people show up at once because the space is not huge. We spend a lot of time talking to the neighbors and the regulars who stop by just to say hello. It is not some fancy showroom with big glass windows and air conditioning that works all the time. It is just a regular place where we do our work and try to keep things organized. Usually, the afternoons are slow until the schools let out and people start finishing their work day. Then the street gets a bit more life in it.
