Devi Handicraft

We are sitting right outside Chandpole, near the Bada Ramdwara. It’s a lively part of the city, and we’ve been at number 7 for many years. The building is old, like most things around here, and it has a lot of character. We sell various handicrafts that come from the villages nearby. It is mostly stuff made from wood, fabric, or clay. We don’t have a website or anything like that, so we just talk to whoever walks through the door. Sometimes it’s a neighbor, other times it’s someone visiting the area for the first time. The shop is small, so we have to use every bit of wall space to hang things up. It can feel a bit packed when there are more than three people inside. We spend a lot of time dusting because the street outside gets very busy with traffic. My father started this place, and I’ve been helping out since I was a kid. We know most of the people who live on this street. It’s a good spot because the Ramdwara is right there, so there is always some activity. We just try to provide honest work and keep the shop running smoothly day to day. We don’t go in for big sales or loud signs. We just open the shutters in the morning and see who comes by to look at the crafts we have gathered. It’s just how we’ve always done it here in this corner of Chandpole.
