If you head down Palayam Kottai Road, you will find us at 105-E1 and E2. Herbs India has been operating out of these units for some time. It’s a pretty straightforward setup where we deal with all sorts of herbs. The road outside is always loud with traffic, which you just get used to after a few weeks. We spend a lot of hours inside these rooms drying, sorting, or packing things up. It smells quite strong in here, depending on what batch we are working on that day. Sometimes it’s minty, other times it’s more earthy. We have two units side by side which helps us keep things somewhat separated. The floor is usually covered in a bit of dust from the plants, but we sweep up when we can. It’s hard work and your hands get dirty pretty fast. We don’t have fancy machinery, mostly just manual work and basic tools. People stop by and ask what we are doing sometimes because of the smells drifting out the door. We just tell them we are working on the latest batch of herbs. The sun hits the front of the building hard in the afternoon, making it quite warm inside. We just open the doors and keep moving. It’s a regular job for us and we just try to get through the orders as they come in. Nothing more to it than that. We just do the work.
