Sastra Matriculation School

Sastra Matriculation School is located out in Karungalikuppam, right along the Sanipoondi Kilpennathur Avalurpet Road. If you are driving on Sh4A in Tiruvannamalai, you will pass by us. We’ve got the 604601 pin code. It is a bit of a trek for some, but we have many students coming from the surrounding villages. The school day starts early because the buses have to make their rounds. We have different buildings for the various grades. It gets dusty during the dry season, especially being near the main road. The staff here deals with all the usual school stuff—grading papers, fixing the fence, and making sure the water tanks are full. We are a matriculation school, so there is a lot of focus on the textbooks and the exams that come at the end of the year. The teachers work hard to keep the kids focused. We don't have a lot of frills, just desks, chairs, and blackboards. Most of us who work here are locals from Kilpennathur or nearby. It is a practical place. We don't spend much time on fancy decorations; we just focus on the lessons. Sometimes the electricity goes out and we just have to keep going with the windows open. That is just how life is here in this part of Tiruvannamalai. We are just a group of people running a school the best we can, day after day.
