Guru Vidhyalaya Matriculation Higher Secondary School

Guru Vidhyalaya Matriculation Higher Secondary School is located out on the Madurai Bye Pass Road in Sukkaliyur. Being on the bypass means it gets quite a bit of traffic passing by, but it’s a spot people know. We have students coming from all over this part of Sukkaliyur for their higher secondary studies. The building is a decent size. There are a lot of stairs to climb and the hallways can get a bit crowded when the bell rings for lunch. We spend a lot of time checking notebooks and making sure the classrooms are swept. The sun hits the front of the school pretty hard in the afternoons, so we keep the shades down mostly. It isn't a quiet place during the day because of the trucks on the road and the students talking, but that is just normal for us. We have the usual subjects and the older kids are always worried about their matriculation exams. Most of the staff live around the Sukkaliyur area or commute from Madurai. We don’t have a big fancy office, just a room with some chairs and a table where we drink tea and talk about the schedule. It’s a straightforward school where the main goal is just getting through the syllabus before the end of the term. People stop by to ask about admissions or just to drop off forgotten lunch boxes. It stays busy from morning until late afternoon.
