Venkateswara & Company

Venkateswara & Company has been sitting here on Vadasery Road for a good while now. It’s a busy spot in Kavalkaran Patti, especially when the morning traffic starts moving through Kulithalai. We’re mostly busy with the day-to-day stuff, keeping the paperwork in order and making sure the supplies are where they need to be. Sometimes the dust from the road gets into everything, but that’s just how it is when you’re working in this part of town. Most of the folks who work here live nearby, so we all know each other’s families and what’s going on in the neighborhood. It isn’t some fancy office with air conditioning everywhere; it’s more of a place where you roll up your sleeves and get things done. You’ll usually see a few of us standing out front having a quick tea when there’s a break in the work. The building at 92/17A isn’t hard to find if you’re looking for it. We don’t spend much time on fancy signs or trying to look bigger than we are. It’s just about getting the orders filled and making sure things are handled right. Some days are slower than others, which gives us a chance to clean up the workspace or fix something that’s been rattling for a week. We’ve seen the road change quite a bit over the years, with new shops opening up and more people moving into the area. It keeps us on our toes and the days pass by fast.
