If you head down to 6, Cauvery College Road in Annamalai Nagar, you’ll see our place. Abirami Cements is right there where all the student activity happens near the college. It’s a dusty job, dealing with cement all day. We spend a lot of time loading bags onto cycles or small lorries. The warehouse isn't anything fancy, just a big space to keep the stock dry. If the humidity gets too high, we have to be extra careful. We’re a small team, and we mostly just handle the local builders and people fixing up their houses. You won't find us on any big billboards. We’re just here at the shop, usually covered in a bit of grey dust by lunchtime. Annamalai Nagar is a busy area, so there’s always noise from the street. We’ve got a routine that works for us. Sometimes the trucks arrive late, and we have to stay a bit longer to unload everything, but that’s just part of the trade. We don't use a lot of fancy words to describe what we do. We sell cement, and we try to make sure we have enough in stock when people need it. It’s practical work. We’ve been at this address for a while and have gotten to know the regular contractors who come through. It’s just us, some heavy bags, and a lot of hard work on Cauvery College Road. We just keep at it every day, making sure the orders are filled and the trucks move.
