Dalmia Cement

We are located at number 26 on Market Street in Ariyalur. It is right by the Anantharaman Drug Store, so it's a pretty easy spot to find if you are already doing your shopping in the market. The street stays crowded with people and scooters all day long. We keep our stock of cement bags stacked up inside, trying to keep them dry and away from the humidity. It’s a small space compared to the big warehouses, but we manage to fit a lot in there. Working in the market means you see everyone. We get a lot of dust on the counter and the floor, no matter how much we sweep. Customers come in with their hands already rough from work, looking for enough bags to finish a project. We spend a lot of time loading those bags onto the back of bikes or small tempos parked out front. It gets loud with the market noise, but we are used to it by now. The weather in Ariyalur can be tough, especially the heat, but the shop stays relatively cool behind the tall stacks of bags. We don't do anything flashy here. It is just about keeping the supply steady for the local builders who depend on us. Every morning starts with opening the heavy shutters and checking what needs to be delivered before the market gets too packed to move.
