Chandrika Food Catering Services is based right here in Aai Colony, just a short walk from the Meenambakkam Post Office. We started this small business because we always liked cooking for our relatives and neighbors. Our kitchen at No B-156 is where everything happens every single day. It is not a corporate office with desks; it is mostly just big stoves and bags of rice stacked in the corner. My family and a few local workers handle the prep work, like peeling onions and grinding the masalas fresh. Being so close to the airport, we hear the planes all day long while we work. The mornings are usually the busiest time when we have to get the lunch orders ready. We go to the market very early to pick out the vegetables ourselves because you cannot trust just anyone to bring the good stuff. Sometimes the heat in the kitchen gets to be a lot, but we just keep going. We do not have a big marketing team or anything like that. Most people just find us by walking past the post office or hearing about us from someone else in the colony. We try to keep things simple and honest. If a vegetable is not in season, we just do not cook it that day. It is a practical way to run things. We have been at this spot for quite some time now and know the local streets well.
